I don't necessarily mean your own child, maybe someone your child goes to school with. If you hear the word ';drop out';, what are your first thoughts about that person? As a parent, if you learn that a teen has dropped out of school, what is your first thought about that teen?
My fiance's parents both never finished high school, instead they got their GED. His mother hated school so she stopped when she was like 16. His dad dropped when he was suspended for a fight that he didn't start and he had to be out for a whole semester and he said what the hell, I didn't start it, what's the point of going back when you have to retake the whole semester? But anyway both got their GED, went to Automotive school and have done pretty well. And as far as I know, neither one of them regret dropping out.
When I hear ';drop outs'; I think of the famous billionaires people that who have dropped out of some type of school and still made millions. That's not always the case though. My cousin fits the stereotype of drop outs: she got pregnant at 15 and stopped going to school to care for her baby.
I think every drop out has a different story. Maybe some were lazy, some had no challenge at school or some didn't like it. I know some people don't go the traditional route: High school, then college, etc and instead get their GED because they can generally get it before their graduating class and then go on to college sooner.
I think as long as they get their GED, why judge them? GED is the alternative to a high school diploma and anyone with either one of those diplomas can go to collge( in some cases you can find a school that has the Ability to Benefit Test for those without the GED/HS diploma).
I think everyone should better themselves. They should continue their education even if they got dropped out. Show the world even though they may have messed up they can still pick up again and start fresh.
I'm a parent, but my daughter is only 8 months old, so it will be a long time until shes in High school. If she wants to get her GED when she is old enough, I'll make sure she would get her GED. I wouldn't let her drop then not make sure she gets her GED. Though I would rather her do the traditional route of getting her High School diploma, a GED diploma will work for me, as long as she got it before her graduating class, that would be the stipulation.
My fiance said he wished he could have gotten his GED when he was 16 because school held no challenge for him.It could have gotten him quicker in college, which would have made it easier for him to finish his degree ahead of his classmates. Instead he finished with the rest of them and graduated. As a parent, if you learn that a teen has dropped out of school, what is your first thought about that teen?
pretty much my whole family considers em a drop-out, and they think less of me because of it. People i don't know assume that i have a kid or im dumb, which neither is the case, i just made a bad decision and im dealing with it the best i can.
well i dropped out for about a month , cause of some problems .
so they may have some personal problems , or had problems at school .
they could get their GED . i looked into it .
or they could take classes at home (i do.)
just because somebody drops out , doesn't mean they're gonna have no future . %26amp; it does NOT mean , they don't have good parents or anything else . cause its THEM not their parents (:
If I hear drop out, I would instantly think: Bill Gates.
Bill Gates was a university drop out, and he makes millions now. But, of course, he was a genius.
Well my big bro dropped out of high school and at first he was doing horrible. But lately he's been getting back on his feet and doing much much better. So drop out doesnt necessarily mean failure but I guess it could.
well im not a parent but when i hear somebody is dropping out i immediately judge them as drug addicts. I know its wrong, its just what i first think of.
Lazy. most likely a child that isn't going to get very far in life. possibly does drugs.
EFF YOU ALL
your fcking idiots
not all people who drop out are lazy drug addicts and you can get your GED when your 16
and have a bright future
eff you.
i'm not a parent but i would think they don't have the proper guidance at home
I would think where are the parents.
Im not a parent but i would think : No future.
i think they remind me of a goody friend i once know called ruby.
