What did you do if you are a teen parent?

I might be pregnant right now, and my boyfriend and I are trying to come up with different scenarios about what to do.

Adoption and abortion are something we wont consider.

If you're a teen parent, or a pregnant teen, what did you do?

I just want to know different things we can do! Are there places we can stay if we get disowned? What is welfare really? And food stamps, how do those work? How old do you need to be to get a job? Or an apartment? Information please! What did you do if you are a teen parent?
I got pregnant at 17.

you can try to get on some kindof housing, you have to go to your local welfare office to apply.

Welfare is finacial or housing aid to help people in need.

I dont have food stamps so im not sure how they work exactly, I think its on like a credit card now and you have to apply at your welfare office for those as well.

most places will hire at 16yo.

you or your boyfriend need to be 18yo to get an apartment, or you can get a cosigner.

you need to get to your local welfare office, with a proof of pregnancy, and they will help you out tons.

I was lucky and didnt need much help, but I know its there.

Also my High School helped me alot with parenting classes and getting all my work done, so you should look into that as well.

Good luck, and dont let anyone get you downWhat did you do if you are a teen parent?
You need to be 15 most places to get a job, you have to be 18 to have an apartment, don't become another one of those teen parents who refuse to give up their child and then use welfare to help them raise it.

I sure hope you don't get disowned and in my area there are no 'special homes' for pregnant teens. Some places might have them, depends on where you are. I got pregnant at 15 and had my daughter at 16, best thing that ever happened to me.

However, be prepared to work hard, without welfare. Suck it up, you got pregnant, step up and face what happened.
I was 19 and pregnant 18 years ago. If you are pregnant, get married, because the state will help you more willingly if you are married. Otherwise, the BF will have to pay back medical expenses and child support, even if you are living together. Welfare is AFDC Aid to Families With Dependent Children. They figure your income and expenses based on a monthly worksheet and give you food stamps and money to help pay your rent based on this worksheet. If you are pregnant, see if you can get signed up for WIC, Women, Infants and Children. They will give you free baby formula and milk vouchers to supplement food stamps and monitor the health of your baby. Hope this helps.
Ignore the one that says get married. That is horrible advice. A baby is no reason to get married. If you see yourself with him in the future, you should have no problem waiting. If not, there is nothing wrong with being a single parent, but there is no way to sugar coat the fact money will be tighter. Depends on where you live. At 14 you can usually get a job, definitly at 16 you can. Apartments are trickier, but I would suggest staying with your parents as long as you can. Good luck honey!
adoption and abortion are somethings you won't consider? those are your options. other than ';keeping'; it i guess, but why would you be asking?

your just a teen and now youre asking questions about welfare and how old you need to be to get a job????

EITHER HAVE AN ABORTION OR GIVE IT UP FOR ADOPTION! STOP BEING SO SELFISH AND GROW UP!
