Do you need a parent with you when you sign up for a bank account, when you're 17 years of age?

Do i need a parent with me to be able to get a bank account made, or can i do it by myself? With personal proof obviously. Thanks for any help.Do you need a parent with you when you sign up for a bank account, when you're 17 years of age?
Check out the banks interest rates first online and see which ones offer the highest. Then once you chose a bank I suggest you call the 1 800 # and check with them about the requirements or call a branch.Do you need a parent with you when you sign up for a bank account, when you're 17 years of age?
No. But you must have a deposit to open the account.
To open a checking account, you must have a social security card (original) and a government-issued ID card or driver's license. Just to make sure you are who you say you are. Having same bank as parents could be a benefit, but not necessary. Most banks have some kind of special deposit discount, such as opening a savings account with only $10. Some will even give you $10 to start your own account! You can usually open a savings account with just your school ID and a social security card or school records, like State Test Results from your Registrar.

Check around and see if there are any Credit Unions in your area...especially those with the words ';educator'; or some college affiliation. Kids are welcome at most, but you have to be a member of the organization they represent...pretty easy to be a member though. Example: if you are a PTA member of a school you can get an educator's credit union membership (adults) even if you do not work for the school. I imagine anyone who attends school as a student should be eligible. (*This is where choosing parents' bank/union is good--b/c you're their kid, you are automatically qualified to be a member.) But if you are trying to be independent of parents or don't get along or whatever, look online, call and ask.

Good luck!
if you are under 18, you need a parent as a custodian on the account
Check with your local Credit Union, or Bank. They may let you open one, with all the proper ID. The thing of it is you are not a legal adult yet, you may have to have parental permission.
