If your 18 can your parent call the police if you left to a different state without permission?

ohkaye so my friend is 18 and she wants to go visit her boyfriend in a different state but she still live swith her parents and she thinks if she leaves without there permission that her mom can call the police.and im not sure or not.If your 18 can your parent call the police if you left to a different state without permission?
No, in fact if her parents call the police for some sort of matter like this, they may receive a ticket.If your 18 can your parent call the police if you left to a different state without permission?
Yes that is pretty much it. She is 18 and can do as she wishes.

But upon return she is screwed if the car is in the parents name, she is on her parents insurance and all of that. She needs a place to live right? The major thing is she will have broken her parents trust so if she ever needs anything they will probably not be quick to help out. Not to mention that the relationship with her parents itself will be screwed for years.

It is a lot to give up to just go see some guy.
She can leave and no they can't have the police retrieve her. They can ask them to do a health and welfare check on her and the cops will show up at the door to check on her. If she's going to defy her parents this way, she may want to start thinking of where she's going to live when she comes back.
Her mom can call. The police will respond. Probably call mom back, ';the idiot is ok.';

Then your friend will have to deal with angry parents at some point upon her [hopefully] safe return.

Act of defiance or independence- bad move either way. Tell the mom. You live at home you still play by home rules.
Her mom can always call the police. However, the police cannot do anything about her leaving. Her mother, on the other hand can. Mom is perfectly within her rights to throw her out - now that she's 18, Mom has no legal obligations for her.
Yes, the parents can call the police, but they will probably ignore it, unless she is breaking some felony law.
Sure, she can leave anytime she wants.

But they can report a missing person if they don't know.

Also, if it is THEIR car, they can deny her permission and report it stolen.
They can't call the cops for her leaving the state per se, but if she is, say, driving her parents car out of state (or anywhere) without their permission they can!
As long as she's 18 she leave whenever she wants. But if it were me I would tell my parents so they wouldn't call the cops to report a missing person
Nope she's18 years of age you are now a legal adult and your parents no longer control you.
