I live in the US and I want to go to London for college, can i leave at the age of 18 without parent consent?

My parents are very controlling and they told me that i am not getting their permission to leave the country. They say I have to be 21 to do so without them, but I think they might not be lying, could someone help me out please?I live in the US and I want to go to London for college, can i leave at the age of 18 without parent consent?
At 18, in all of the US States you are considered an adult and can do as you please within the law. You can certainly leave home without any recourse available to your parents.seems to me that you are sadly uninformed. You are legally an Adult !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a bit strange in US regarding drinking for instance you can gladly get killed or maimed in Afghanistan or Iraq fighting for your country at 18 but can't buy a cold beer in California or Texas ! Weird

You will need a passport don't forget.I live in the US and I want to go to London for college, can i leave at the age of 18 without parent consent?
You do not need your parents permission to leave the US for London. However, you will need to pay university fees (which is higher for overseas students), accommodation, food, travel and other miscellaneous things (stationary, educational items, etc). Unless you have adequate funds, it is not worth thinking about.

If I where you I would research into university's in London and tell your parents the benefits of living and studying in the city. It will really help to have your parents support if you go ahead on this move, both financially and mentally.
You can come to the UK on a student visa at 18 without parental consent. However you first need to be accepted at a UK university and prove you have enough money to support yourself throughout your studies - school fees and living expenses - in order to qualify for a student visa. I don't know many 18 year olds who have the required amount of money in the bank unless you have a trust fund.

';On a course of more than 9 months you will be required to show that you have the first year of the tuition fees plus either 拢7200 (US$11,790) or 拢5400 (US$8843) depending on whether you intend to study inside or outside of the Inner London Boroughs (see below). These amounts must be held in your personal bank account or your parent(s) / legal guardians bank account for a minimum period of 28 days. The end of that 28 day period must not be more than one month before the date of your application, for which you must show bank statements / other evidence.';

Here in UK a citizen is classified as an 'adult' from age 18 - they get the vote for the first time, can buy and own property blah etc.

I'm not sure what the age of 'majority' is in the USA - it may differ from State to State, but if you've got the franchise and can vote, then you are a man and you make your own decisions.

This next link gets you the age of majority by state in the USA.

Here in UK we take the view that when a citizen is old enough to fight and die for their country, then they are old enough to vote and drink the countries beer too. This 18 is the age of majority here in UK and that is applicable to you when you get here. You'll be paying tax here, and thus you get the vote and etc.

You can come to the UK to attend university, but you'll have to be accepted by one first to enable you to get a visa. Have you thought about how you will pay for uni? Living expenses? London is a very expensive city.
yes you can
